A simple sauce that packs an extra punch of flavor to Korean dumplings (mandu). We usually eat our yaki mandu without any addition of sauce on the side. Yes, we think our Korean fried dumplings (yaki mandu) recipe is that good to eat without any dipping sauce! However, sometimes we do like that extra zing of flavor and that’s where this sauce comes in. This sauce is also a good accompaniment with steamed dumplings.

Key Features and Tips

This recipe is mild and is usually the base of most traditional dipping sauce that accompanies Korean dumplings (mandu). If you want this sauce to be a bit spicy, add in a dash more of ground black pepper and a dash of cayenne pepper. Just keep adding a little bit of each until it is to your liking.

This sauce goes great with dumplings, however, it can also be used for spring rolls and egg rolls. It adds a delicious, salty, and tangy kick. You just have to try it! If you need a spring rolls recipe, try our Crunchy Fried Spring Rolls recipe.
